Gold and Turquoise and Agates, Oh My!

The Black Hills are known for the gold veins that marinade the rocky hills. Having so much time on my hands I have been hunting treasure. I am not proficient from a geological status, it is more like, ohh a pretty rock!
I thought that I may have come across a piece of turquoise yesterday. I took the green rock to Wiladine as she was telling us just that morning that she is holds a degree in geology. Sadly, the rock was just a pretty rock, but as Willie reminded me as I took it back from her inspection, "There are no bad rocks, if it is special to you, it is a good rock" .
The first night I got to meet Wiladine I asked if she rented gold panning equipment. She said I have pans. I have no clue what I am doing other than having watched my brother Greg sift through his take home from their last winter visit in Arizona, but my Bucket List includes gem mining, gold panning and getting lucky. (for you dirty minded folk I will allow you this double entendre just once) There is just something so exciting as prospecting for gold and gems.
I love going to different parts of the country and discovering new minerals and rocks. Willie said that when she was studying for her degree that this area of the Black Hills and one other place in Turkey are the biggest resources for most varieties found of precious gems and gold.
